Maureen FitzSimons's achievements when she was a teenager in America (which we refer to as Maureen O'Hara today) would have definitely put her into the child-prodigy category. These traits were natural for a child born in Ireland, surrounded by gifted parents and a loving family. Maureen was born in Ranelagh - a suburb of Dublin in Ireland, on 17 August 1920. Marguerita LIlburn FitzSimons, the mother of her. She was a accomplished contralto. Charles FitzSimons owned the Shamrock Rovers soccer team in Ireland. He also owned a Dublin business. Maureen was the second of six FitzSimons children. Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen did well as a sporty woman and was a gruelling athlete in games as a child. Her passion was coupled with the natural ability to perform. She took home almost all Feis Award for Theater and Drama that her country had to offer. At age 14she was accepted into the Abbey Theater, where her goal was to study the art of opera and classical theatre.
